When Colin and Jackie asked me if I was available to shoot their two-part amazing adventure wedding I absolutely JUMPED at the chance! Not only are they both incredibly kind, talented and hilarious (and helllllloooo SO GORGEOUS) but the wedding they were planning was a dream come true. Part One took place on September 30th up in stunning Big Sur with just immediate family and a few close friends as witnesses. Held at a secret spot that they hold dear to their hearts, they were wed beneath giant redwoods behind the massive cliffs of California's central coast. Part Two took place a couple weeks later on October 13th at Will Geer's Theatricum Botanicum, the theatre where they met, tucked up in the winding canyons of Topanga. All of their favorite humans came out to celebrate and they said their vows on the same stage that Colin proposed to Jackie. These two are so deeply tuned into each other and they spread magic and laughter everywhere they go. Shooting this wedding was an absolute joy and adventure for me and I wish them a lifetime of finding deep love and happiness in their marriage.
Big Sur
We started the day at Lucia Lodge. It's stunning views and fresh salty air provided the perfect blue backdrop to Jackie's breathtaking beauty.
True to form, Colin got ready near the ceremony site. Outside. In a brook. It was everything.
Jackie wrote Colin a letter and gifted him a beautiful engraved compass. "She's gonna make me cry" said Colin. And she succeeded.
While Colin and Jackie and their wedding party finished getting ready, their families prepared the ceremony site. They lay colorful woven rugs in a small clearing of trees right in front of a gorgeous and knotted root of a fallen tree. It was time for their vows.
After their ceremony, Colin, Jackie and I ventured further into the forest for some portraits.
When we returned to the campsite their amazing families had created a wedding feast! Jackie's dad handled the cooking while the mothers decorated the table. Their friends were shiny-eyed with joy for them and toast after toast was given! Colin and Jackie also prepared some songs and serenaded their families as the sun got lower.
As the sun was going down we snuck away to the beach for a few final shots.
Topanga
We enjoyed the last breath of summer in Big Sur but autumn had fully arrived in beautiful Topanga!
After a lovely ceremony on the stage they got engaged on, it was time to party the night away!
